The Bullmastiff is a wonderful dog, intelligent, strong, and gentle.  However, it is not the dog for everyone.  Bullmastiffs are wonderful family dogs, they are great with children, they do not require a lot of exercise, they are protective of family, yet very gentle with family, they usually get along with other pets when raised together, the exception may be for dogs of the same sex.  Every up side also has a down side that you also must consider.

Bullmastiffs snore, drool, and although they are great with children they can also knock them down, not knowing how big they are.  Although they are very intelligent, it is usually on their terms, not yours.  Protectiveness is a trait of theirs, not to be confused with aggressiveness, as this is NOT a trait of the Bullmastiff.  Most do not require a lot of exercise, but some are more active than others .  All these things are things to consider before deciding to own a bullmastiff.
